I used to think of working out as a chore. If I couldn’t fit it in, it fell to the wayside and so I became complacent with myself. Sure, I was a gym member at other places and there was a gym 50 yards away in my apartment complex. But I had no urgency to change and craft my mind and body into what it is today.  
I had always noticed the Maryville Boxing Club, but I will be honest in that I was slighted intimidated. I’m not athletic by any means let alone know the first thing about boxing. So when Maryville Boxing Club reached out using Facebook and its gym members to have a “Bring a Friend” day I was highly interested. I decided to go with a buddy, and I’ve been hooked ever since my first workout on January 8th, 2015. Not only is it a stress relief to go and release those endorphins in the high intensity workouts and learn about nutrition, but my gym as a whole is amazing. The owners, Chad and Mia Mueller, know their members by name and strive to construct new and exciting workouts and programs every week. They are innovative, encouraging, and emphatic trainers who change people as a whole and always take the time to work one-on-one when needed. Spiritually, physically, and emotionally, I feel as though my workouts aren’t just something I can put aside anymore. They are something that I owe to myself and they are an integral part of my lifestyle now. When I first started going to the gym, I sometimes would groan, under my breath, when Chad would say, “I have a new game for us to play today,” or “I just researched this new workout.” In the end, the challenges and creativity paid off. My body and mind are not what they were 6 months ago and I have Maryville Boxing Club to thank.

I was very skeptical when one of my friends suggested a group of us girls try this free for one week.  I had been walking for a while but then my dad passed away and I had let myself go.  I figured it would be something fun to do for a week with my friends, so I went.  It was Thursday, January 2nd, 2013 and when I got home, My husband asked me "how was it"?  I told him I was never going back.  Well, that next Monday I went back to class and felt a little better after I left and on Wednesday I signed a 6 month contract.  I started to lose weight, feel better about myself, and feel healthier.  After my 1st 6 months was up I signed for a year.   I have lost and maintained a 35# weight loss for over 2 years, feels stronger, healthier, and better than I ever have.  I love this gym because everyone is in the same boat and there for the same reason-to get healthy, fit, learn.  In all the time I have been going I have never felt judged and have had amazing encouragement from everyone there especially Chad and Mia.  I have had a hip problem for a while and Mia has given me some advice on strength and stretching ideas and Chad has modified some of the work outs so I can continue to work out but not be in pain.
I recommend this gym to anyone that I come in contact with that asks about my journey and to anyone who wants to start their own.

After having my second baby in December I was bound and determined to get in the best shape of my life. I had a c-section and had to wait 12 weeks before I was able to do any ab work or any HIIT, In the past I have said I would lose weight and spend tons of money on gym memberships and never went. I would get tired of the same routine or felt intimidated walking around and not knowing how to use the proper machines. I tried weight watchers as well as nutri system... I saw some friends on Facebook that were going to Maryville Boxing Club and I decided that I wanted to give it a try, I went to one class and was completely hooked. It was the hardest and most fun workout I had ever had. It was as intense as Insanity but way more fun  I signed up that day and went home and told my husband about it and he signed up the next day. It has also helped with my anxiety and self esteem. Since that first day( about 2 1/2 months ago) I have lost 17lbs and my husband is down 20lbs. We weren't eating very clean but still managed to lose some weight. The best thing about this gym to me is how everyone supports each other and pushes each other. Also Chad and Mia really care about our success and health. They are always there for help and support. Game Changers is the greatest gift that I feel like I have gotten from this gym. In one week I have learned more about nutrition and fitness that I did the last 28 years of my life. In one week I have lost 9lbs and my husband has lost 13lbs. We are now making better choices for ourselves and our children. I love MBC and look forward to continuing to achieve my goals. I wish I would have signed up 3 years ago!
